For those who have a desire to become an event manager, they first have to consider the different types of events and occasions that they could manage. Fortunately, there is a long list to choose from. There are options for the event planner to specialize in one or two of these or to be full service and cover them all.
Weddings
Perhaps the most common event that needs an event planner are weddings. There are so many details that go into planning a wedding that it can be overwhelming for the couple getting married. It is much easier for them to rely on a planner. Some of the things that the planner will take care of are:
- Booking the location for where the vows will be exchanged.
- Arranging for the reception.
- Taking care of the caterers.
- Helping the couple to stick to their budget.
- setting up the time schedule for the wedding day.
These are the basics, and many wedding planners will include additional services like arranging for the cake, the flowers and even planning for the honeymoon.
Birthdays
This is another common occasion and can be for children or adults. Many people are now relying on organizers for these events. Usually, they will go to event planners that specialize in this particular type of event. Some planners only deal with children’s parties while others will go for the adults.
Anniversaries
This is another regular event for organizers because it can be a fairly large event like a 50th wedding celebration. Usually, a large function requires a lot of expertise, and people want to rely on professionals for arranging these.
Business Event Organizers
This is another category that comes into the event planning industry. There are event planners that only focus on offering their planning services to companies. These are usually big events and take a great deal of planning. It can be anything from a corporate weekend to a huge convention.
